Miller's appeal
to help
January 13, 2010
Dear Friends
in Christ,
I write to ask
your prayers
and assistance
for the people
of Haiti who
have been so
devastated by
yesterday’s
earthquake. As
a diocesan community
we have had a
long-standing
relationship
of deep affection
and concern for
the Diocese of
Haiti and its
people, particularly
in the community
of Jeannette.
I am pleased
to report that
the two young
men who were
part of a recent
mission trip
from this diocese,
and who are still
in Haiti, are
safe, and, it
is hoped, will
return home soon.
At present we
do not know the
status of the
facilities in
Jeannette. We
have received
an unconfirmed
report that the
nearby town of
Leogane was less
severely affected.
I pray that is
the case for
the people of
Jeannette. I
promise to keep
you apprised
of information
regarding Jeannette
as it becomes
available.
The devastation
in other parts
of the country
is great. I am
asking each congregation
to take a special
collection, which
will be sent
through Episcopal
Relief and Development
(ERD) for the
people of Haiti
as they begin
to rebuild. Alternately,
those wishing
to make a direct
contribution
to ERD may do
so at www.er-d.org/donate-select.php
Thank you for
your compassionate
response.
Yours in Christ,
+Steve A. Miller

Molly

now their hearts
are broken; they're
worried about
old and new-found
friends.
Pere
Gracia

he and his family
are okay, but
we've yet to
hear from our

administrator,
Eloi,
as well as from
the Bondeau and
Petit Trou communities.
Pray with us.
