Meet Pat Benson - Long-time Sponsor
By Nancy Frana
Pat Benson is a faithful sponsor! She sends many letters and cards to her young partner Macouse in Jeannette – even though they don’t have means to respond. They do, however, know who you are!

On our trip this year, I found Macouse’s home and brought back some pictures for Pat. When we stopped to greet them, they were very excited! They stood proudly in front of their meager block home for pictures. They sent a big “Thank you” home for Pat.

Thank you! Thank you!

Last April, Bishop Miller called on Episcopalians across Wisconsin to donate to an emergency food program for the Jeanette Community - and you answered!

As of June 1st, YOU have helped to raise thousands of dollars - and your generosity is still growing. During this food crisis, the Haiti project is using your generosity to feed the school children a healthy lunch of mamba -- a peanut butter sandwich with juice.

Our August newsletter will describe how the Haiti Project is working towards a more sustainable food program to assist Haitians in times of crisis [a sizable shredder invented at St. Thomas helps convert bread fruit into flour!].

Donate to the emergency food fund: for just $60 you can feed ALL the school children of St. Marc's for a day. Make your donation at: Emergency FOOD Drive

New [Summer] Coordinator

Jan Byrd has dedicated time, effort, energy and love as the coordinator for the Haiti Project for several years and is taking a breather. Join us in welcoming Hannah Brown as Jan's "fill-in" for the summer.

Hannah is a student at UW-Madison pursuing a degree in non-governmental organizations. She traveled in Kenya and Egypt this past semester. Last year she made her first trip to Haiti. She is interested in micro-loans in Jeannette and organizing a college mission trip next year.
