Haitians Rebuilding Haiti

Jeannette's trade school building is complete -- and just in time as the process of rebuilding Haiti will be underway shortly.

Haitians are ready and eager to learn the trades of electricity, plumbing, tiling, agriculture and sewing; they greatly desire to play a part in rebuilding their country.

We need your support to launch classes beginning June 1st. Over 160 people are registered [almost 1/2 are women] for 3-months of intensive training that will aid Haiti's reconstruction.

Your $100 donation puts one student through training.

March Trip to Haiti
-- by Elizabeth van der Weide

A small group traveled to Haiti in March and included Elizabeth van Der Weide, Susan Webster and myself. We brought 700 pounds of supplies: medicine, tools, seeds, baby kits, flashlights, etc. It was hard to decide what to pack since everything is desperately needed. Our trip took us to Leogane, Miragoane, Paillant and Jeannette. We spent our time delivering supplies, working in L'Hopital St. Therese in Miragoane and L’Hopital Notre Dame in Paillant.

We also went to a micro loan bank and the UN in Miragoane. When in Jeannette, we visited our many friends (old and new), met with the Council of Wise People, said hello to pretty much every child at St. Marc’s school and had the blessed opportunity of celebrating Palm Sunday with this incredible community.

Haiti is a most incredible place. The devastation was terrible…honestly, it is far worse in reality than the pictures in the news, with poverty that is unavoidable. But it is also the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, and the people we met were friendly and caring. This is a country where there so much faith…simply put, God is present in Haiti.

Mother's Day Gift EVER!

Send a Haitian Child to School
in YOUR mom's name

ALL moms know the importance of school.

This mother's day you can honor mom by sending a Haitian Child to school in her name. The Haiti Project partners with St. Marc’s in Jeannette to make going to school a reality for over 700 children.

Mom will receive annual photos, report cards, and occasional notes from a school child.

Print off this lovely letter to give to her this weekend explaining your gift.
