The
Wind, The
Rain
Keep Coming
|
It
seems Haiti can’t
get a break.
In the last three
weeks, Haiti
was pounded by
heavy rains and
flooding from
several hurricanes
so far this season,
with more likely
on the way. Tens
of thousands
have been displaced.
Crops have been
damaged and farm
animals lost.
Overland access
to a large portion
of the northwest
of Haiti is cut
off by washed
out bridges and
roads, making
food scarce.
Meanwhile, the
beginning of
the school year
has been delayed
for at least
a month, creating
an additional
hardship for
children-schools
are often a much-needed
source for food.
Here's a more
detailed article
from Episcopal
Life Online.
How
You Can Help
When
faced with a
country with
an incomprehensible
list of needs,
it’s difficult
to know where
to begin; let’s
begin with prayer.
Please pray
for children
and families
affected by the
multiple storms
and severe flooding.
Pray for organizations
like ours who
are working hard
to bring life-saving
relief to those
who need it most.
If you have the
time, effort
and energy, get
involved.

to help the Haiti
Project respond
quickly and effectively
to children and
families who
are suffering
in the wake of
the recent flooding
which will prolong
the current food
shortage.

Sponsor
a child.
Your
continuous love
and support will
help foster long-term
strength for
a child, enabling
him or her to
better cope with
current and future
disasters by
keeping him /
her healthy,
educated, and
fed -- in the
wake of the food
crisis, the Haiti
Project has begun
a lunch program.

Back
to School
| All kids
dream of
going to
school -
especially
in countries
where it's
a privilege.
The Haiti
Project partners
with St.
Marc’s
in Jeannette
to make going
to school
a reality
for over
600 children
ages 3 and
up. |
 |
Education builds
strong, self-sustaining
communities.
At this time
of the year as
you prepare your
own children
for school, consider
sponsoring a
child at St.
Marc’s.
What
is Child Sponsorship?
Sponsorship is
a great way to
experience the
joys of helping
a needy child
and making a
lasting difference
in his or her
life. Our goal
is to help children
become self-reliant,
productive citizens
in their communities.
 |
Child
Sponsorship
gives you
a chance
to share
a unique
relationship
with a child.
As a sponsor,
you'll help
provide important
benefits
to a child
living in
poverty.
|
The Child Sponsorship
Program costs
$200 annually
($17.50 monthly),
and you have
the opportunity
to stay with
your child for
a number of years.
Some sponsors
begin when a
child is very
young and the
child may not
graduate until
they are in their
early 20's.
While
we hope you are
able to continue
your support
until high school
completion, we
recognize circumstances
change, and you
may discontinue
your sponsorship
at any time.
When you sponsor
a child, your
tax deductible
contribution
provides opportunities
necessary for
success in life
and make a significant
difference in
that child's
life .
How
Sponsorship Helps
Your support
provides:
* A qualified
teacher and school
supplies.
* Nutritional
assistance through
daily vitamins.
* Preventative
and curative
medical care.
* Community programs
for clean water
& food.
* A chance to
hear about Christ's
love and be encouraged
to develop a
