School for Haitians,
$1 at a time
Norma Nowak, a nurse at St Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, loves kids.
Several months ago Norma and her colleagues began a creative way to collect money to sponsor school children in Jeanette:
"The idea is really simple. We ask staff to bring in unwanted books, magazines, CD's, movies. We set up a small, unmanned table with a money jar where we offer a buck an item.
Our goal is $600 - that's 3 kids we're putting through school just with unwanted materials."
Drinking Coffee.. What??
 |
Hallelujah!
The DIOMIL and Diocese of Eau Claire have raised over $15,000 from Oct. 2008 – July 2010 just by drinking coffee.
|
That’s 15% of the Haiti Project budget.
Something so simple and effective.
The funding goes towards building a coffee infrastructure in Jeannette [the trees in Jeannette aren’t yet ready to produce coffee for the Rooster] as well as other economic development projects.
These things are New about the Rooster beginning immediately:
Coffee is here [it took much effort after the quake]. Place new orders now: molly@singingrooster.org; fax: 608-223-9728 or by mail: 2400 Waunona way, Madison, WI
New Coffee Hour PRICE: we’re REDUCING the price for Parish coffee hour coffee from $8 to $6.50
Why? Our smaller parishes can’t afford the current price and our goal is to use as much Haitian coffee as possible; less proceeds go to the Haiti Project, but we’re helping Haitian coffee farmers by buying / consuming LARGE volumes of coffee.
New Consumer price: we raised the price by a buck after the quake and we’re dropping it back down to $9 a bag.
THANKS for your dedication, spreading the word, organizing coffee sales and drinking delicious Haitian coffee!

Back
to School
All kids
dream of
going to
school -
especially
in Haiti
where it's
a privilege.
The Haiti
Project partners
with St.
Marc’s
in Jeannette
to make going
to school
a reality
for
600 children
ages 3 and
up.

Education builds
strong, self-sustaining
communities.
At this time
of the year as
you prepare your
own children
for school, consider
sponsoring a
child at St.
Marc’s. |
What
is Sponsorship?
Sponsorship is
a great way to
experience the
joys of helping
a needy child
and making a
lasting difference
in his or her
life. Our goal
is to help children
become self-reliant,
productive citizens
in their communities.
 |
Sponsorship
gives you
a chance
to share
a unique
relationship
with a child.
As a sponsor,
you'll help
provide important
benefits
to a child
living in
poverty.
|
The Child Sponsorship
Program costs
$200 annually
($17.50 monthly),
and you have
the opportunity
to stay with
your child for
a number of years.
Some sponsors
begin when a
child is very
young and the
child may not
graduate until
they are in their
early 20's.
While
we hope you are
able to continue
your support
until high school
completion, we
recognize circumstances
change, and you
may discontinue
your sponsorship
at any time.
When you sponsor
a child, your
tax deductible
contribution
provides opportunities
necessary for
success in life
and make a significant
difference in
that child's
life.
How
Sponsorship Helps
Your support
provides:
* A qualified
teacher and school
supplies.
* Nutritional
assistance through
daily vitamins.
* Preventative
and curative
medical care.
* Community programs
for clean water
& food.
* A chance to
hear about Christ's
love and be encouraged
to develop a
relationship
with God.
* A message that
someone cares.

Got your Motor on?
The Haiti Project sponsored a motorcycle ride across the Diocese of Eau Claire, July 29-Aug 1. The team, lead by John Meacham, raised over $8,000 for the trade school and agriculture projects in Jeannette.
