St. Marc's Episcopal
Church and School
is established
in Jeanette.
1984
Rev. Octave Lafontant
becomes priest-in-charge
at St.Marc's
Church.
1986
Haiti Project
establishes partnership
between Episcopal
Diocese of Milwaukee
and St. Marc's
Jeanette.
1987
Building for
a new school
begins in January.
First Haiti Project
mission trip
to Jeanette.
1988
Primary building
completed. Students
begin using the
facility. Eloi
hired as school
principal.
Child sponsorship
program begins.
1989
St. Marc's Clinic
is built.
1990
Clinic opens
after registered
nurse and licensed
practical nurse
are hired to
live in Jeanette
and provide regular
health care.
1991
First preschool
classes begin.
Completion of
first large,
public water
cistern using
local men apprenticing
to be masons.
1992
Construction
of 60 latrines
at private houses
to improve sanitation
conditions.
Dormitory housing
for teachers
built.
Building of Rectory
started.
1993
St. Marc's first
graduation of
an eighth grade
class.
Agriculture program
begins.
1992-94
U.S. Embargo.
No mission trip
taken for 2 years.
1995
Continuing study
program to training
teachers begins.
The first container
of supplies shipped
to Haiti.
Eloi, school
administrator
visits Wisconsin.
1996
After numerous
delays, Rectory
building finished
as living quarters
for visiting
groups and small
residence for
the priest and
other Haitian
staff.
Farmers' Cooperative
is begun.
1997
Partnership
of Episcopal
missions in Haiti
meet for the
first time in
Florida. Later
this becomes
the Haiti Episcopal
Connection, which
meets annually
in Haiti.
1998
Lending library
begins at St.
Marc's School
for families
that do not have
books available
at home.
First high school
classes begin.
First Dental
clinic is held.
1999
Current preschool
building is started.
2000
Rev. Pierre Auguste
replaces retired
Father Lafontant
as priest-in-charge
at St. Marc's
Church.
2002
Nutrition program
to give each
child a multivitamin
at school begins.
Second floor
addition to preschool
building added
to house the
High School.
2003
St. Marc's Clinic
has a fire that
destroys one
room.
Dr. Joanne Vincent
is the first
doctor to live
in Jeanette and
provide daily
health care at
the clinic.
2004
Gift of Water
program started,
providing clean
drinking water
to each family.
Pere (Father)
Amirold Lazard
replaces Pere
Pierre Auguste
as priest-in-charge.
Episcopal Diocese
of Eau Claire
joins the Milwaukee
Diocese in helping
the Haiti Project.
